Most Sennichite replays start with a minimum of one hour per player.
In the Ryu-O the minimal time per player is two hours. Habu used one
minute more than Abe for the first game, so he starts with two hours
left on the clock, while Abe starts with two hours and one minute.

37.P9g-9f 07:00:00 06:47:00
This is a Yagura variation that was popular about 20 years ago. It is
hardy played anymore because the symmetrical position easily leads to
positions where sennichite is the only possible result. It seems strange
that Abe would play such a variation in the replay of a sennichite game,
but he had actually prepared something in this variation.
38.P6c-6d 07:00:00 07:02:00
39.S4h-5g 07:06:00 07:02:00

43.B3g-2f 07:09:00 07:07:00
44.S3c-2b! 07:09:00 07:15:00
There goes Abe's preparation. He was aiming for a symmetrical position
with both kings in the Yagura castle, the rooks on 4i and 6a, knight
on 3g and 7c and pawns on 4e and 6e. It seems like he had prepared a
way to attack strongly in that type of position. 44.S2b doesn't allow
this attack, as N3c next makes P4e impossible.
45.S7g-8h 07:16:00 07:15:00
Now Abe has to admit his strategic failure. The position stays symmetrical
and closed.

There we go again. The alternative is 55.R4i, but after 56.R6a P4e, the
black attack backfires after Px4e Nx4e Nx4e Rx4e P*4d R4i P6e Px6e Nx6e
Rx6e P*6f Rx2e.

Sennichite 07:38:00 07:41:00
And with this second sennichite this Ryu-O match starts with a
non-contest. Game 1 will be replayed on the days that were scheduled
for Game 2. If this match is going to take seven games, the organizers
will be in trouble, as they will have to find a new date and place for
game 7. Game 6 will now be played on Christmas day, and there will
be little time to play a seventh game between Christmas and the long
New Year holiday.
