My Background
I am working as a professor at the Tokyo University of Technology in Japan.
I am a member of the School of Computer Science. I have a Ph.D.
in cognitive science and I am also very
interested in the game of shogi (Japanese Chess).
Research
My research focuses on
search algorithms, game playing and cognitive modelling of human
problem solving. I also have built my own shogi program called SPEAR.
Shogi
Of course my research interest in shogi is no coincidence. I am a reasonable
player myself (about 4-dan amateur) and follow the professional shogi scene
in Japan closely.
